Interview Prep Part 2: What to do once you land the Interview

They called you in for an interview. 

Now what? 

8 Items to bring to your interview:

  1. Yourself
  2. Your Resume (and anything else HR requests)
  3. Notepad/Pen
  4. Wear a watch
  5. Class and Tact
  6. Happy eyes, and an enthusiastic attitude
  7. Smile
  8. Confidence

8 Items to leave:

  1. Phone
  2. Loud noises (if this is a phone interview)
  3. Obnoxious phone case with feathers and animal ears
  4. Strong cologne/perfume
  5. Tattoo sleeves and distracting piercings
  6. Gaudy jewelry (limit accessories to classy pieces for the ladies. Fellas- limit jewelry to a watch and a ring).
  7.  Dirty finger nails or long colorful fingernails
  8. Your smell of stale cigarettes or other smoke (see previous blog about drugs).

After the Interview

  1. Send a Thank you note/email to the person(s) that interviewed you.
  2. Follow up in about a week (or whatever time frame they told you they would make a decision).
  3. Stay in prep mode- you may be called for a second or even third interview. Quickly respond to emails and return phone calls promptly.
